Santo Stefano al Mare
BEACH AND HISTORY ALONG THE CYCLE PATH
Santo Stefano al Mare is a very sought-after tourist destination in Liguria, but at the same time during the summer months it is not crowded and thus gives tourists the right rest without missing all the comforts and attractions typical of a big city.
Among the most interesting things to see in Santo Stefano al Mare is undoubtedly its tower with nine sides, unique in Italy and built in 1556 to protect the town from Saracen raids. The old part of the village features winding alleys typical of the Ligurian territory that wind inside Santo Stefano al Mare through votive chapels, churches and ancient remains of the village's past. The parish church of Santo Stefano Protomartire with its three naves, the side chapels and various artistic testimonies of the fifteenth century is worth a visit.
